Thanks to Sam Christenson for the story of his Dad’s involvement with the 6th on Luzon. My Daddy, Andrew Sharpe, was there too. He was a Staff Sargent with Company H. This story was of particular interest to me because Daddy’s job was to carry an 80 lb base plate for a machine gun on his back. The plate was used to keep the gun from sinking into the sand as it was being fired.
I also want to thank everyone associated with the preserving and sharing the history and memories of the 6th, and the fine men who were part of it.
