Hello my names Tony Robinson and though ive never served in our military I do however like to research its history. having said that i found a photo in a frame in the trash this is what it says
CO G, 1ST INF REGT. 6TH INF DIV. FORT ORD, CALIF MAY 1955
1ST LT W.H.SMITH CMDG,LT R.B.BARNES EXEC, 1ST SGT W.D.GARDNER,FLD 1ST R.PRICHARD.
Im assuming those are the officers but any information you might have would be greatly welcomed. its a shame someone let that go to the trash im only 34 but my father raised me to respect my elders and those who served in the miltary. Respect is a quality that isnt taught to our kids today and thats a shame
The 1st Inf. regiment was a part of the 6th Division. The Division was stationed at Ft. Ord in California in the 1950s.
Please consider whether or not you would consider donating the photo to our organization or scanning and sending us a high resolution copy to post on the website.
Sincerely,
Thomas Price
My father Robert Morris served in the 63rd infrantry regiment company I 6th infantry division in 1951 on. Served in the korean war and survived. Hello Perry:
This is of little use to you, but my brother was in the 1st Battlion, Headquarters Company, lst Infantry Regiment. He was in the invasion of Lingayun Gulf with the 6th Infantry Division along with the 63rd and 20th Regiments of the 6th Division. So many of those men have passed on as the youngest would be in his late eighties. My brother was in a 37mm gun crew and joined the Division at Sansapor, New Guinea. They have a newsletter with names of living men and their companies. Good Luck, T.k Pope
I just found a book dated 9/30/53 signed by hundreds of military personel. It’s a blue book, inprinted with red letters and a big red star. ^th Infantry Division,I company 63rd Infantry Regiment Fort Ord California……It was left behind by my grandfather who served in WWII, I don’t recognize any family in it, so I don’t know what I’m really going to do with it….
This sounds very interesting. If you wanted to do so, you could donate it the the National Association of the 6th Infantry Division.
Sincerely,
Thomas Price
I recently assisted my niece in obtaining her Grandfather’s US Army medals; PFC James L McQuoid, Co. K, 63D INF REG, 6TH INF DIV, APO 6 who served from 19 FEB 45 until 30 APR 45. I believe he was part of the Shimbu Line conflict and I am looking for any photos that I may pass to his granddaughter, my niece.
I suggest that you examine the contents of the book posted on line here:

Bear in mind that there were well over 15,000 soldiers in the 6th Infantry Division at any one time. Overwhelmingly, we know who someone is because that person or a family member sent a photo to us and told us who it was.
I hope that this helps.
I’m trying to find any info on my great uncle Theodore (Ted) Ystenes. We were good friends also he died about a month after I enlisted in the AIr Force. He was in the 63rd infantry company D I have two dates given to me from my aunt. 7dec.1944 and July 28th 1941 and a APO #6 and his middle name is Oliver. Born and died in Mn. That’s about all I have.
I don’t know if you can help, but I’m hitting dead ends
Thanks,
Terry Ystenes
