My late husband James William Carr (1926-2006) stationed in the Pacific from (1943-1947) was in the 53rd Artillery. Was it part of the 6th Infantry?

He died in Leonardtown, St. Mary’s County, Md. on August 29, 2006.

Was the 757 th engineer parts supply company part of the 6th infantry?
I don’t see anywhere in our lineage that they were.
